March, 2024

Heya everyone!

We skipped April Fools' Day this year and are working hard on shipping Statamic 5 (also why this newsletter was a few days late). In the meantime, here's the new issue of your favorite newsletter, hot off the press! 📰

Lets look back at what happened at both Statamic HQ and in the community in the past couple of weeks. It's actually so much that here's a quick overview for what's below the fold. 🪭

  1. The upcoming launch of Statamic 5 🖐️
  2. Laravel 11 got released 🔥
  3. Statamic won two awards 🏆
  4. Jack and Joshua speaking at conferences 🇺🇸🇩🇰
  5. Flat Camp is getting closer 🇮🇹
  6. The Statamic London meetup 🇬🇧💂🏻‍♂️

Statamic 5 (and Laravel 11) 🔥

Shipping Statamic 5 in the next couple of weeks is our top priority right now. There will be a brief alpha and beta period where you have the chance to give things a try with your projects while we collect your feedback and can fix bugs and tidy things up before tagging the 5.0.0 release.

Besides official support for Laravel 11, Statamic 5 will have a huge focus on performance improvements , stability, and breaking changes will be minimal. Parts of Statamic will see performance improvements by factor ten and more. 🏎️

Amongst other things, v5 will have support for Laravel Reverb. Reverb is a new first party package by Laravel itself and is a self hosted alternative to services like Pusher. It plays really well with our real-time collaboration addon.

There'll be even more new features and improvements. More details in the dedicated newsletter on Statamic 5 when it launches.

Statamic Coming to a Conference Near You 🎤

Social card image mashup of the Laracon US and Laravel Live Denmark ones

Both Jack and Joshua are going to speak at conferences this year!

While Jack will give a talk at Laracon US in Dallas at the end of August, Joshua is heading to Copenhagen to give a talk at Laravel Live Denmark the week before.

Talks will be recorded so you can watch them even if you can't make it in person.

We are planning on doing Statamic meetups around those conferences too. So look forward to more details on that in the coming months!

Statamic London Meetup 🇬🇧

Group selfie at an Indian restuaraunt in central London

About a dozen people met up in London at the end of February to enjoy some comradery and spend a day in London together. Duncan and Joshua from the Statamic team also flew in from Glasgow and Germany to join the other gentlemen.

It was an awesome day that shall be done again sometime! We played minigolf, tasted craft beers, went to a street food market, and ended the day with some spicy Indian food.

Thanks to everyone who came and to Jay for organizing it!
