Is Israel Dropping Booby Trapped Cans of Meat onto GazaDeceptive Imagery Persuasion uses your ignorance to perpetuate liesThe Quds News Network posted a a video where they claimed that Israel was dropping booby-trapped cans of food onto Gaza. There’s a few problems with the video. While my Arabic isn’t as good as it was just a few years ago, I was able to pull some words out. I believe that the voiceover is saying that:
However, there are a couple of problems. These are not meat cans. They are the containers of M603 land mine fuzes. The cans open from the bottom with a key, so it seems like the filmmaker turned the cans over and moved the packaging description so it was facing away from the camera. You can also see the fuze when it is removed from the can. The M603 Fuze is typically placed in the M15 anti-vehicle land mine. The box the fuzes were stored in is visible in the video. We may even have a partial lot number on the box. Egypt and Israel don’t use the M15 land mine, but Lebanon and Jordan do. So these fuzes may have been stolen or somehow acquired from one of those countries. They may have been lying around and someone decided to do a video about them. The video may not have even been recorded in Gaza. This is class DIP or Deceptive Imagery Persuasion. Bad actors count on the fact that you can’t identify a land mine fuze in order to push their propaganda. Fight back with knowledge.
